The charger has a distinctive blue LED strip light and a rear-panel contact relay port for controlling external devices. An optional device combines both desktop charger and Birdy Slim programmer into one unit. This device can be identified by its green LED strip light indicator and also has the rear-panel contact relay port.
Birdy Slim models are available in the VHF, UHF or 900 MHz frequency bands and are operational in narrowband and wideband systems. The ruggedly designed pager holds an IP 67 protection rating meaning it has complete protection from dust intrusion and can withstand water intrusion for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter. The size of the pager is 3.8 x 2.2 x 0.7 inches (97.4 x 54.7 x 16.7 mm) and it weighs 3 ounces (90 grams).
The sizable LCD displays 8 lines of messaging at 16 characters per line. The LCD has auto screen rotation capability and a programmable Multi-Color Backlight feature. 128 capcodes are available on the Birdy Slim, each capcode having 4 sub-addresses. These sub-addresses can be programmed with different Backlight colors to give a visual indication of the capcode and sub-address being alerted.
There are several pager settings that can be changed from the LCD user interface. These include receiver frequency and baud rate as well as transmitter frequency, baud rate, and the recipient capcode and sub-address.
A message alert tune can be selected through the user interface from any of the Birdy Slim’s 21 Alert Melodies. Up to 20 messages of 256 characters each can be stored in pager memory. 64 Pre-defined Messages can be programmed into the pager. Messaging features include alert settings of Vibrate / Tone and Vibrate / Vibrate then Tone, Unread Message Alert, Flashing LED, Silent Mode and Low Battery Warning.
