LED sign messages are created using the WiPath “LED Config” software program. There are options for fonts, colors, style, alignment, speed, and message pause time. Any combination of these options can be selected to get the desired message effect. The font option has choices for character size, width, and shading. Selecting particular “Fancy” fonts will display the message in 2-line format. The message can be set up to display in a single color or a mix of colors. A wide range of styling options exist with descriptive names such as Roll In, Roll Left, Roll Right, Wipe Up, Cycle Color, Flash, Sparkle, and Spray. Message alignment can be situated to the left, right, or center and five message speeds are available for selection. Once the message completes a cycle, it can be paused for any number of seconds between 0 and 9 before starting the message cycle again.
There are two methods that can be used for uploading the configured message to the VL12P1696. When setting up the message locally with the “LED Config” software, an upload button in the program can be pressed to directly send the message through the computer interface to the sign. If a new message is to be sent to a remotely deployed sign, an alphanumeric message with the updated information can be sent through an existing paging system to a particular sign or multiple signs. Frequency, baud rate, capcodes, and other paging settings are configured for the LED sign with the WiPath “PDT3P” software program.
