The Alpha 4 Programmer is set up by connecting the USB cable into the programming fixture and also into an available USB port on the computer. The green Power LED located next to the USB connection of the programming fixture should light. The computer should indicate that it has found new hardware, the programming fixture. Install the extracted device driver file (.inf) to enable using the fixture. Run the programming software by double clicking the executable (.exe) file or icon. A “USB” indication should be displayed at the lower right of the screen next to the software version number.
The Alpha 4 Pager can be programmed with or without a battery. The flexible silicon insert on the back of the pager must be removed and the holes positioned over the programming pins of the fixture. The pager is then pressed down until the “Read” and “Write” buttons of the programming software become active. The Alpha 4 must be held down in place while programming or reading the pager.
