USAlert Alpha 4 Pager

The USAlert Alpha 4 Pager displays alphanumeric messages with a large 4-Line LCD and has zoom capability that will display larger characters in an easier to read 3-Line mode. 84 characters per screen are displayed in 4-Line mode and 48 characters per screen in the 3-Line mode. 60 messages can be stored in memory with each message capable of containing 500 characters. Maximum memory capacity is 30,000 characters. The fully synthesized Alpha 4 uses the POCSAG coding format, supports 9 languages, and is available in VHF, UHF, Midband, or 900 MHz frequency bands. There are 8 programmable capcode addresses and 32 sub-addresses, separate receiver boards for wideband and true narrowband operation, and alerting modes that include beep, vibrate, beep + vibrate, and mute. A single “AA” alkaline battery powers the pager and results in a typical battery life of about 60 days.

Manufacturer: USAlert

The Alpha 4 can be programmed in three ways.  Traditional programming can be accomplished with a PC and programming software.  All features and options can be configured with this method.  Certain features can be configured with Over-the-Air (OTA) programming where alphanumeric messages are sent to the pager(s) to change functions such as capcodes, baud rate, and alerting modes.  Addresses can be enabled/disabled and pagers can be turned off.  For common programming settings like frequency, capcodes, or baud rate, Hand Programming can be performed by the Alpha 4 user if he is allowed through password protection.

A number of features and indicators are available with the Alpha 4 including Out of Range Indicator, Reminder Beeps, message handling functions, and Time and Date display.  20 sets of canned messages can be programmed into the pager with up to 30 characters per message.
