The maximum alert tone audio level is exceptionally loud at over 100dB SPL (Sound Pressure Level), approximating the sound a jackhammer would produce at a distance of 3 feet. The maximum level is set by pressing and turning the volume knob to the desired level, the knob having distinct indent settings to prevent accidental level change.
The UniMax Amplifier is compatible with most pagers and cell phones, depending upon their physical size. The nest of the UniMax measures 3.1” L x 0.75” W and if measuring from rounded corner to rounded corner, the length is approximately 2.6”. A few of the pagers that will fit comfortably in the UniMax Amplifier include the USAlert Alpha 2, Alpha 4, and NP40 as well as the Alpha Elegant and Alpha Legend Plus.
The UniMax normally runs on power supplied through an AC adapter, but can also be powered by an optional rechargeable battery pack or three standard “AA” alkaline batteries. If a rechargeable battery pack is installed and the main power through the AC adapter is interrupted, power will automatically switch over to the rechargeable battery pack. A green PWR LED indicates the Amplifier is powered on and is active.
