The Rechargeable Battery Pack for the UniMax Alert and Ring Tone Amplifier is an optional backup power source, or the main power source if the UniMax Amplifier is to be used in a mobile situation. Consisting of three “AA” NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) rechargeable batteries, the Battery Pack takes approximately 10 hours to charge from a completely discharged condition to a fully charged state.
Installation of the Battery Pack requires removing the battery compartment cover at the bottom of the Amplifier and inserting the pin connector of the Battery Pack into its mating connector inside the battery compartment of the UniMax. Re-attach the battery cover to complete the installation. To charge the Battery Pack, connect the wall transformer into the UniMax Amplifier and then into an AC power outlet. The green Power LED of the UniMax should automatically light indicating the Battery Pack is charging.
The UniMax Alert and Ring Tone Amplifier is designed to alert a pager or cell phone user to an emergency situation when not wearing their device or possibly asleep. The Amplifier has no electrical contacts, but is activated by sensing the audio alert of the pager or cell phone it is holding. The UniMax features 10 different audible alert tones that can be selected from a front panel pushbutton knob. A large red flashing LED serves as a visual alert when a call is received and will keep flashing as a reminder until reset. Once alerted, the UniMax’s alert tone volume will increase incrementally for 30 seconds until maximum volume is reached. The alert tone duration can be set to 1 minute, 3 minutes or continuous alerting through a 4-step slide switch. A mute position is also available.
